While at FIDM I took part in a student design competition where we designed two shoes; (1) in the category of junior/contemporary and (2) in the category of evening fantasy.
For junior/contemporary I designed a black and white stripe pony hair flat form with a patent leather sole and patent leather ankle strap. From a top view the show would show a chevron pattern over the toe area. I wanted to design for the upcoming trends which is why I chose a bold patterned pony hair and the silhouette of the trendy flatform.
For evening/fantasy I designed a classic stiletto pump in a long pony hair. The pump has an elongated “tail” coming up and out of the heel counter and an elongated curved vamp. I wanted to exaggerate the “S” curve on the foot, a simple detail that I find makes a world of difference in how a shoe wears.
My shoe illustrations from a student design competition are currently on display at the 2012 ENKWSA trade show in Las Vegas!
VIP access to the MySpace Secret Show: Miguel & Jhene Aiko at Key Club in Hollywood! The show was so good, both artists have amazing voices, but I’d have to say my favorite part was the opening DJ x Drummer set by my boyfriend DJ Jay-P and Stro Elliot. Just a little biased ;) Big Sean was in the crowd supporting his friend Miguel and Trojan was the major sponsor giving away free condoms. Apparently the mix of Miguel setting the mood and free condoms was a huge success because the feedback from my friends was many of them got lucky, hehe!
Wearing two of my favorite things, Stussy and Seattle! Helps me feel closer to my hometown now that I live in California.
We made an effort to frame our original Shepard Fairey prints and our signed Shepard Fairey Poster, but after framing them they’ve just been on the floor laid up against the wall, so I am very pleased to say that we’ve finally hung them! Jay-P decided he wanted to paint the walls to make the art work pop so we decided on a darker shade of grey. After painting the walls it lead us to decide that we also want to paint our kitchen cabinets too… We’re still deciding on the perfect color though!
Yesterday after the FIDM Industry Expo, I was walking back and came across Royal Apothic hosting their trunk show at the FIDM Museum with lots of goodies. It was my first time hearing about the company and their products and instantly fell in love with the mens collection. The scent of their candle and shaving creams is beyond divine. It’s the perfect mix of what every man should smell like! When I brought the goodies back home to Jay-P he was also very impressed with the packaging. I also bought myself some roll-on extracts and hand creme… ;)
